Why Sanctions Don't Work
On October 6, 2004, Bill Reinsch, President of the National Foreign Trade Council and Co-Chair of USA*Engage, gave a speech to the Middle East Institute entitled "Why Sanctions Don't Work." The speech discusses the costs and ineffectiveness of unilateral sanctions and notes that during the last half of the 1990s, the U.S. put into place over 70 sanctions laws and executive orders on 35 countries.
