Chinese Businessman Buys MiG Aircraft on eBay
Now for a little less conventional export control news . . .
The AP reports that a Chinese businessman has bought a Soviet-era MiG-21F aircraft from a US seller on eBay for $24,730 and plans to use it to decorate an empty space at his company's offices in China. While the eBay auction listing for this aircraft has been removed, the article says that the aircraft is currently located in Idaho, was last flown in 1995 and is in "excellent condition. In case you are interested, you can buy your own MiG-21 on eBay here. In case you are wondering, demilitarized aircraft are classified on the Commerce Control List as ECCN 9A991 and can be exported from the U.S. to China (assuming it doesn't contain a QRS-11).
