ITC Publishes Supplement to 2004 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) today announced the publication of Supplement 1 to the 2004 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). Two versions of the HTSUS are currently available on the ITC's Web site at www.usitc.gov/taffairs.htm. The first version of the 2004 HTS Annotated Edition, also known as the basic edition, is applicable to imports entering the U.S. from January 1, 2004, through June 30, 2004, and reflects changes made to the HTS as a result of the implementation of free trade agreements with Chile and Singapore, as well as other previously proclaimed modifications.

The second version, the 2004 HTS Supplement 1, is applicable to all imports on or after July 1, 2004, and reflects amendments to the HTS that have occurred since the publication of the first version of the HTS in January 2004. The supplement includes changes identified in the Federal Register as well as more recent revisions to the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program. A complete listing of changes for Supplement 1 can be found in the Preface of the new edition.
